If the EPUB has no fixed print pagination, the tool starts with an estimated page count and lets you replace it with the page total shown by your own reader.

Progress in context

How the progress estimate works

The reading tool provides honest estimates of how long it will take to read each book in the catalog. These estimates are based on the median word count and a typical reading speed, so they are approximate but useful for planning.

You can filter by reading time categories—quick, steady, immersive, or marathon—to find a book that fits your schedule. The tool also shows the actual word count and reading minutes for each title, so you know exactly what you're committing to.

Quick Reads

32 works that take under a few hours to read, ideal for a short sitting or a day's commute.

Steady Reads

27 works that offer a moderate time commitment, suitable for a few evenings of reading.

Immersive Reads

26 works that require a longer investment, good for a weekend or a week of dedicated reading.

Marathon Reads

13 works that are substantial undertakings, for those who like to sink into a long narrative.

Reading Tracker

Pacing Your Reading with Pages

Reading Tracker helps you plan and monitor progress through a book by pages, not sections or minutes. You set a daily page goal, and the tool estimates how long the book will take based on that pace. This works because the catalog provides word counts and estimated reading times, which the tracker converts into a page estimate when a fixed page count isn't available.

Setting a Daily Goal

The default daily goal is 20 pages, but you can adjust it to match your schedule. If you have more time on weekends, you might set a higher goal for those days; if weekdays are busy, a lower goal keeps the plan realistic. The tracker uses your goal to calculate estimated finish days: remaining pages divided by daily goal, rounded up.

For example, "Little Mr. Thimblefinger and His Queer Country — Inside the Classic" has 47,982 words. With the standard 250 words per page, that’s about 192 pages. At 20 pages a day, you’d finish in roughly 10 days. If you bumped the goal to 30 pages, it would take about 7 days. The tool makes these trade-offs visible.

Adjusting for Your Edition

The page estimate is a starting point. Different editions may have different page counts due to font size, margins, or illustrations. The tracker lets you replace the total with the page count from your own reading app or printed edition. This ensures your progress percentage and remaining time are accurate.

If you’re reading on an e-reader, the page numbers might not match the catalog estimate. By entering the total pages from your device, the tracker recalculates everything. For "Little Mr. Thimblefinger," if your edition has 220 pages, the remaining time adjusts accordingly, keeping your plan grounded in reality.

Tracking Progress and Remaining Time

As you read, you update the current page. The tracker shows your progress and estimates remaining time proportionally: estimated minutes multiplied by remaining pages divided by total pages. For "Little Mr. Thimblefinger," the estimated reading time is 209 minutes. If you’ve read 50 of 192 pages, you’ve used about 54 minutes, leaving roughly 155 minutes—about 2.5 hours.

Progress history is stored in your browser’s localStorage, so you don’t need an account. You can close the page and return later; your data persists. This makes the tracker a simple, private way to keep a reading plan on track.

Using the Tracker with Other Tools

The tracker pairs naturally with Book Finder and Compare Books. Once you’ve chosen a book, the tracker turns its word count into a concrete reading plan. For a book like "Little Mr. Thimblefinger," you can see at a glance whether a 20-page daily goal fits your schedule. It’s a practical way to turn a selection into a finished read.
